The Dogwood Patch Newsletter for December 2007

December? Did I Lose A Month Somewhere?

I must begin this newsletter with an apology to you all.  I neglected to send a November newsletter.  I know, 30 lashes with a wet DMC.  I was just plain irresponsible this month.  I hope y'all will forgive me.  I hope you had a happy thanksgiving.  I had so much to be thankful for this year.  We did something different.  Thanksgiving night we went to an ice hockey game.  It was my birthday the next day so the tickets were a b'day gift from my husband.  November was also my sweet little boy's b'day month.  Jason is now 21 years old.  He's a man now.  Me, I'm officially in my mid-40s now (45 years old).  *sigh*  For my son's b'day, our gift to him was a day @ The Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, GA.  My husband Kenneth turns 39 years old 2 days after CHRISTmas.  We'll have to come up with something to do for his b'day.  I know a lot of people that have b'days in November & December.  Happy B'day to y'all out there!  And with CHRISTmas coming up let me wish y'all a very Merry CHRISTmas & pray God blesses you like never before.  And also a Happy New Year!  I think 2008 is going to be the best year yet!

Camp Iwannastitch 2008!

Sharon Crescent of Crescent Colours has agreed to do the camp kit you get in your Camp Iwannastitch goody bags again for 2008!  But that's all I'm going to say about that.  Don't even try to get the rest of the surprise out of me.  I'm so excited about it I can hardly stand it.  I just might blow like a champagne cork & let it all out.  I get so excited about things it's hard for me to keep it secret.  Like when I was little & we would play hide & seek.  I was always the 1st one to be found.  They just went to the giggling bush.  LOL  Here are the dates so far for 2008:  February 1st - 3rd, March 7th - 9th, April 25th - 27th, August 15th - 17th, September 19th - 21st, November 14th - 16th.  All are pretty wide open with the exception of a few spots left in November.  I'm waiting to find out from The Holiday Inn on October dates.  I will put all the dates on the website when they're final.  If you'd like to be included just email me please.

Glendon Place

If you haven't seen Glendon Place's newest design called Santa's North Pole, I encourage you to take a look.  The chart is $18.50.  I got the fabric in the mail for it today & it's just to die for.  It's sparkly & gorgeous.  It's hand painted by Crossed Wing & has the "subtle mottling" of whitish, light blues & medium blue little "powder puffs" on it.  Well, I'll have to scan it for you so you can see.  Of course the picture does not do it justice like seeing it in person.  The price for the 21" x 27" piece is $41.00.  Pricey but well worth it when you see it.  To quote my dad "you get what you pay for".  And you sure do with this piece of fabric.

Country Cottage Needleworks

Country Cottage Needleworks has come out with the next 2 designs in her Kids collection.  For all your little cowboys out there the chart is called Cowboy Dreams.  There's a pretty red frame to match it.  It's so cute with the little boy holding his stick pony.  And I love the horse & bunny @ the bottom standing with the cactuses.  For the girls there is Garden Girl.  It's a beautiful mix of blues & whites & tans.  There's a pretty arched garden gate the little girl is standing under with 2  little bluebirds sitting on top of it.  Each of these have a poem.  Cowboy Dreams:  Giddy-up horse, it's time to ride, Into the old west's countryside, Where dreams are made and I can be, A cowboy living wild and free.  Garden Girl:  May all the little seeds you sow, be nurtured kindly so they grow.  Let me know if you want the frames too.

Little House Needleworks

What really struck my heartstrings this month within the new charts is Little House Needleworks Brave Hearts.  It says:  Red for brave hearts that burn with liberty, White for the peace they earn making men free, Stars for the heavens above, Blue for the deep, where, in their country's love, heroes shall sleep.  I just love it.  And it has detail to it too.  The roof on the blue house is a checkerboard pattern.  That's really cool.  But more awesome than that is the little green hill.  It has flowers & they're all funkified with their leaves.  You just have to see it.  And what draws me to it @ the 1st glance is a flag & a sheep.  If that's not enough, there's 2 blue birds.

Dot Box - Bead Storage

I have come upon a really way cool thing for beads.  It's called a Dot Box.  I got the small set to check it out.  If you fold a piece of paper in 1/2, that's the size it is.  It holds 32 little bitty boxes.  The little bitty boxes are in 5 different sizes.  There are 8 of 1 size.  There are 14 of another size, 2 of another size, etc.  It's just the cutest thing ever.  The actual size of the case that holds all these boxes is 7" x 6".  The price is $16.50.  Now I'm going to order the bigger size which holds 53 tiny boxes & is 11" x 7".  The price on it will be $31.00.  I can think of all kinds of different things that you could use these for.

CHRISTmas Ornament Monthly Automatic

I've decided on another monthly automatic.

Here's a monthly automatic with a CHRISTmas gift from me to you.  Since CHRISTmas always seems to catch us unprepared with ornaments & gifts not yet stitched….lets do an ornament of the month for 2008!  Sweetheart Tree has come out with The Twelve Days of CHRISTmas for ornaments.  If you sign up to get 1 of these sent to you each month you will get 1 free.  Here's how it will work.  In January I will mail you not only A Partridge in a Pear Tree but also Two Turtle Doves.  Both of them for the price of one.  Merry CHRISTmas!  Then in February you will get Three French Hens, March-4 Calling Birds, etc.  We will end up in November with 12 Drummers Drumming.  The price per chart which includes the flower beads will be $9.00.  As always my shipping is minimal charging $2.00 + the amount of the postage.  I will also kit them up for you with fabric, floss, etc if you let me know.

CHRISTmas Memories

Ok, is this enough for 1 newsletter?  I had to cram in 2 months worth of yakking you know.  LOL  But I would like to leave you with this, a favorite CHRISTmas memory.  In Charlie Brown CHRISTmas or whatever it's called, Linus quotes this...Luke 2:8-14.  When I was little I remember thinking wow-cartoons seem so real, even they know about Jesus.  8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.  10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
