The Dogwood Patch Newsletter for Mid-January 2008
Camp Iwannastitch Updates
Hey Y'all:
I'm sending another January newsletter! What do you think about that?!? The reason being is that Kim @ the Holiday Inn just confirmed the October dates for Camp Iwannastitch 2008. Rather than just email who I think it involves, I'll just tell everyone! I know there are others out there probably thinking about signing up for October. I know I've spoken with a few of you over the phone. So, there are 2 weekends available during October. I grabbed both of them so there can be a choice for y'all October campers. We will have Camp Iwannastitch October 3-5 & also October 31 - November 2. It's going to be a Halloweenie Camp!
For y'all April Camp Iwannastitchers the dates have changed. The hotel is booked April 25-27 for the Tour De Georgia. So unless we want to sleep on the floor of the store in sleeping bags, we have to change the dates. I say we change the dates, this floor is a little hard. So now April Camp Iwannastitch is 18 - 20.
I'm looking @ the October list of all the people that have already signed up. I don't know which dates you prefer. So please reply to this email with the dates you choose.
November Camp Iwannastitch is fully booked & I have a waiting list. This was also the case with October but that will change with the new dates. Ok, I think that's all I have to say about camp.
Volunteers Needed (Date Changed)
Inventory was going to be this coming Sunday the 20th. It's canceled. I don't know what the road conditions are going to be like for traveling that morning so I don't want to take any chances with anyone. Better safe than sorry.
So let's make if for the following Sunday the 27th. I'm looking forward to Krispy Kreme time @ 10:30 & inventory being over with when we get it done. For lunch we're going to have the awesome Ingle's Sandwich Splendor Tray with the little, soft, sweet croissants. My mouth is watering already. Those are the best sandwiches. You campers know what I'm talking about. That's our Friday camp afternoon munch.
I'm still taking volunteers and standby volunteers in case some can't make it.

Camp Becomes Stitch-In
February 2nd is the stitch day. So that will be fun. I still have some openings.
Superbowl Sale?
February 3 is Superbowl Sunday. I have some ideas for that sale. You'll see when you get here or if you shop online you'll see those specials that morning when you pull up www.DogwoodPatch.com.
The Nashville Needlework Market
Then February 7 I'll be headed to Nashville for market. I’m taking a class I intend to offer as a class sometime in 2008 called Jeweled Garden. It's a brand new design being released by Nancy's Needle. It's going to be on 18 count mono needlepoint canvas. It's going to be fast & fun to create a counted canvas quilt. Fast & fun? I knew it was for me! It's going to take Caron Watercolours, DMC Perle Coton #5 & Rainbow Gallery Gold Rush 14. The design is only 6" X 6". So that is going to be fast! I’m really looking forward to it.
I'm also taking another class @ market called Get More Mileage From Your Cross Stitch Charts. It's beads! We're going to take basic charts & create a beautiful beaded design. I will learn the Herringbone stitch, Square Stitch & how to bead on a loom. You will be able to do this with any cross stitch chart says the instructor. So I'll see if I will be able to teach a class @ the store with this technique & offer it this year. Who doesn't like those gorgeous sparkling beads?!?!
Just Arrived
Now onto some new charts that I received since the last newsletter…..
Just Nan sent me a box of stuff. There's Mitten Men that's cute little snow guys all in a circle. I also got the stunning frame that this design fits into. It has jewels in the frame. I seriously mean stunning to describe this frame.
There's a chart called Memories that's pretty. I'm attaching the embellishment pack to the chart as you won't want to get the chart without it.
And there's Florentine Floral that also comes with an embellishment pack included with it already.
They sent me a free chart to give out to customers. It's called Heart Butterfly. It's a pink butterfly in the shape of a heart. I bought the embellishment packs to go with it. I also bought the heart shaped frame that's beautiful with pretty pink jewels on it. I just love it. I'm going to have to stitch this one & put it in the frame so I can look @ it all the time!
Joey News
I know y'all think I don't talk enough about my little kitten, Joey. Well, here's some news. He's grounded! LOL You know I let him out of his luxurious condo to run around the store for exercise & we play together a few times per day. It's his little recess. All children have to have recess during the day. Well, the beautiful heart shaped frame with the pink jewels I was talking about in the last paragraph? I had one on the counter for display & he knocked it off & broke it. Wasn't it in the Brady Bunch that Peter broke a vase in the living room & he had to give up his allowance to pay for it? Well, I guess I need to start giving Joey allowance now. LOL
More Just Arrived (Fresh Off The Trucks)
Guess what UPS just brought me? The March calendar kit. I LOVE it. There's a bunny lady wearing a pink dress in this one. I really love it! There's a colorful quilt hanging out on the clothesline to dry & it looks like the bunny has been gathering carrots in her basket as that's the line of work she's in. The sign next to the carrot patch says "Carrots 4 Sale". The kits always come with a ceramic button in addition to the beads. Looks like this button is a carrot. Now I want to start on this when I get home. But wait, I'm not finished stitching the February calendar yet. Like that matters when it comes to beginning a project!!!! It'll just do a little patch tonight just to get it going.
I got a Heaven & Earth Design in called Cabin in the Woods. It's a moonlight/snow scene of a quaint little cabin with all the lights on inside & a CHRISTmas tree just out front. The white birch trees look so real in this picture. I'm sure this design is just breathtaking stitched up. My husband says it looks like a Thomas Kinkade.
I bet all the Heaven & Earth designs are breathtaking when stitched. There's one that I find in my hand all the time called Angel Lion & Lamb. The angel has huge golden wings extended & is wearing a red dress. She's seated with a baby lion in her lap that you just want to reach out & pet. The parent of that baby is in the pic also as well as a baby lamb that's prancing along in the snow on the ground.
The Fed Ex guy delivered Maidens of the Sea by With My Needle today. I've contacted my friend Pat & she's going to stitch these lovely little pieces for me & finish them. She's also going to teach a class sometime this year for it. It's a needlecase & a scissor fob. So be watching the website for news on this when we get the details all worked out. I have to say I think this is just wonderful. Not only do I love the mermaid, ship & lighthouse but I also love the little fishie thread winders that come with the chart. There's just something about them that makes me smile. It's not every day I get charts that have cute little fishies in them!
I thought that pansy chart I put in the last newsletter was the prettiest chart I've seen in a while. But not since I got this chart in this week. It's called Valentine Flowers. It's by the same designer called Country Garden Stitchery. It's adorned with beautiful pink roses & a big heart in the center. I like hearts.
Another Valentine design came in. It says: How do I love thee, let me count the ways, with itty bitty stitches for you to have always. It's called How do I Love Thee by Designs By Lisa. I like that big red heart in the design using Crescent Colours Cupid floss. The only other floss mentioned is the Gentle Art Sampler Thread, Dark Chocolate for the words. How fitting for a Valentine design…..Cupid & Dark Chocolate flosses? This designer had her thinking cap on! This one also comes with 3 little gold heart charms.
Speaking of Valentine's Day, be sure to come in the store for some sweet treats. There will be some goodies for your taste buds as well as some goodies for your wallet. It will be a little Valentine salebration! I will have a little drawing thingie set up when you go to pay so you can pull a paper heart & see what % savings you will get off your purchase.
I got a design by Imaginating called The Whisper of God. I love the verse by Ralph Waldo Emerson on this chart: Let us be silent that we may hear the whisper of God. This one has a little bit for everyone. There's like some Celtic design, pretty flowers, a colorful butterfly, a religious verse, & some of it looks something like pencil drawing.
I got the 2008 monthly Pine Mountain pillow kit in yesterday. It's called February Sweet Love. I started stitching it last night when I got home. I guess I really should've stayed here & got them in the mail to everybody that signed up for them. So I suppose I need to get done with this newsletter & get busy. My husband took off work to work with me here in the store today. Since he's under my command for the day I can send him to the post office with them since I missed the mail lady this morning.
Ok, I have to leave something for the February newsletter!
Happy Stitching, Y'all!
Terrie
