The Dogwood Patch Newsletter for January 2008
Two Thousand and Eight!
Happy New Year Y'all:
I'm glad the holidays are over & we can move along in the new year. Who knows what 2008 will bring? My skin just tingles thinking of all the possibilities. And an adventure to look forward to. Nashville market @ the beautiful Embassy Suites happens the weekend before Valentine's Day. My mind goes a hundred miles an hour when I stop & give myself time to think about it. To think about all the new designs I will see, to think about all the new people I will meet. And to see my dear friend Lois who owns a store in CA. I talk to her on the phone & email but it's just nice to see her in person & hug. I wonder who will be stuck in 1 of the glass elevators? *evil snicker* But I hope it's not ME! I heard last year of a designer that was by herself in 1 that got stuck. I didn't see her but I'm told she held up a sign on a piece of paper that said HELP. *more snickering* Mental note to myself: Keep a big piece of paper & ink pen on me.
Volunteers Needed
I must do a store inventory. I'm taking volunteers. Just reply to this email if you want to help. I've decided on Sunday, January 20th. I need to do it when the store is closed so it has to be on a Sunday. We will begin @ 11:00am. I'll have fresh Krispy Kreme donuts & coffee @ 10:30. Lunch will also be served for you. I might throw in another little reward or 2 in appreciation for your help.
Flowers and Love
I got a chart in the other day that's so sweet. It's called Oh Those Purple Pansies by Country Garden Stitchery. I love to look @ it. It's just such sweetness. It's not your average bunch of pansies. It's the prettiest pansies I've seen, I think.
For Valentine's Day there's a new chart by Lizzie Kate called Be Mine Valentine. I love the pink heart done in Weeks Dye Works-Love. How appropriate, huh? And in case there's no roses, you can @ least stitch one!
The Calico Crossroads Mini-Kats are on again for 2008. I got January with the black cat holding balloons by his tail. The February has 2 black cats with their tails together. Aaaww, it's so adorable. If you want to get these in your mailbox every month just say so & it's done.
There's a chart on the way. I will have it by the time Kenneth sends out this newsletter. It's called Stitched with Love by Plum Pudding Needleart. It's so pretty. It's a heart & a rose. You just have to see it.
And carrying on with the flowers & the love theme that seems to have been created in this newsletter is Meowy Tyme January & February by Homespun Elegance. There's a vase with a flower growing out of it & the bloom is a heart with the word "Love" on it. Another thing you can get every month if you choose.
So if you want to stitch something in time for Valentine's Day it's time to get moving.
If y'all order things & want the fabric, floss, embellishments, needles or
whatever, just say you want them sent with it & it shall be.
Snow and Mornings
For those of y'all who don't live around here, there was a
snow here in Hiawassee. It was the 1st one of the year. I make is sound
like it happens a lot. I think last year it happened twice. After all, this is
Georgia, I moved here from Kentucky to get away from the snow. New Year's night
my friend Sandy & I took a drive during the snowfall. It's so pretty when it
dances in the headlights. I think we got a whole 1/2 inch. I hear some of the
schools were canceled 2 days in a row. I still opened my store @ 10:00 the next
morning. I didn't have to close my store last year because of it. Although I
did open an hour late 1 day last year. But to be honest I was mainly just
taking advantage of the sitting around drinking coffee, stitching & watching tv.
When I arrived the other stores were open & had customers. *sheepish grin* I
just love mornings though.
The Today
Show, the coffee, the bible reading, the stitching….who thought of stores
opening @ 10:00 anyway? Shouldn't the stores really open @ noon? ;) I only
have a couple hours in the morning before I have to start getting ready. I
could use a 4 or 5 hour morning actually. Hmmm, what would you be like after
drinking coffee for 5 hours? That makes me laugh, doesn't it you?
Cross Stitch 101 & Hardanger Classes
January 26 is Cross Stitch 101 & Hardanger class if y'all plan on taking 1 of these it's time to sign up. Or you know anybody that needs to sign up you might mention it to them.
Joey Update
My little kitten Joey is 6 months old now. He's been growing leaps & bounds. He doesn't really look like a kitten anymore. He looks like a full grown cat now. But I still think he's the handsomest cat around. He's still the most sweetest thing ever. He still loves to cuddle against my neck & purr & be held for hours. I still hold him in the evenings while he sleeps. It's really cut down on my stitching time but I wouldn't trade it for the world. He's got me soooo wrapped. You know what the difference is between a kitten & a baby? Not much! LOL
You can see more pictures and antics of Joey on his very own page. To view them, click here. You can check back from time to time and see more of what Joey is up to by visiting the About Us link on the website.

70% savings. I still have Shepherd's Bush on the table, lots left of it. For
those of you homies shopping on line, by phone or email, you get a little

Camp Becomes Stitch-In
Due to cancellations, I don't have anybody in February Camp Iwannastitch. So
I'm thinking of having that Saturday as a stitch day. Call me or email me if
you plan on coming. Space is limited for my stitch tables. I can have 11
people. We can order lunch from next door @ The Rose just like camp. Y'all can
pay for your own lunch & I will go get it. We'll do the Chinese gift exchange
just like we do @ camp. Bring a wrapped gift in the amount of $20.00. The most
creative wrapping will win a prize. Make sure it's a gift you think everybody
will want to steal. That's part of the fun. We'll number the packages & vote
on them & I'll give a prize to the winner. Then we'll draw numbers & whoever
drew the number "1" picks a gift to open. Then whoever has the number "2" can
pick a gift to open or steal from number 1, etc. Y'all know how it goes. The
date for that Saturday is February 2nd. We'll do 10:00 - 5:00.
Superbowl Sale?
I need to have a Superbowl Sale but I don't know what to do exactly yet. I'll be open 10:00 - 5:00 February 3rd & you'll just have to come & see what's happening. For you homies the special will be up on the website February 3rd @ 10:00 & will end @ 5:00.
Ok stitchers, signing off, keep the needles smoking!
