The Dogwood Patch Newsletter for February 2008
Nashville Needlework Market!
Hey Y'all:
It's February & I'm raring to go to market. Just a few more days! I have plenty of customers who have called & emailed me things to pick up for them. I will bring them back & get them sent out ASAP! My darling husband Kenneth (who most of you know) will be running the store in my absence. Y'all be sure to give him plenty of business while I'm gone. He has invented a cool fabric calculator for himself (being the computer whiz that he is) to determine the cut size for fabrics so he's ready to go & wants to get those scissors smoking. I will be in Nashville & he will be my replacement February 7, 8 & 9. He took off work especially to be here & keep the store open so y'all feel free to make it worth his while. What a dedicated store owner he is! Barbara who some of you know, who works here in the store with me some is going with me. Barbara & I go way back. She's my partner in crime. Just think, 2 ladies, no husbands, cash, checkbooks, credit cards, 150 cross stitch designers…look out Nashville!!!! LOL I hope we have enough money left over for gas to make it back home. I wonder if Kenneth knows where the Western Union is in Hiawassee….
Campiwannastitch
I’m just so excited about the 2008 Camp Iwannastitch kits for the goody bags! As I've said, Sharon of Crescent Colours did the chart again for this year. She sent me a picture last night & I could've just died, it's so cute! Boy are y'all going to be floored when you open your camp goody bags this year! Grade A, Number 1, Blue Ribbon, 1st Class, is the only words I can think of to describe it. I want to tell ewe about it & show it to ewe so bad I can barely stand it. I'm just about to bust! For once I'm in a hurry for time to race by. Come on Father Time, let's get to March 7 Camp Iwannastich. But, of course, with camp tradition don't feel pressured to stitch it. Camp Iwannastitch is still a free weekend stitch @ your leisure. You're free to stitch on whatever your little heart desires. No pressure, no class you must attend, no designer telling you what to do, camp is all about you & you decide what to stitch. Bring all your UFOs, begin something new, buy something to start while you're here, this is your camp & it's your time. It's all about you! Even if you want to knit, bead, whatever, I want you to be abloom with happiness.
Just Arrived
Ok, on with the news of the most recent charts to enter the store...I got Stitching Mends the Soul by Waxing Moon. It's a lady stitching. I just love charts that talk about our "art". And what a true saying. I know stitching does me a wonder of good.
Also new is Stitcher's Motto by Plum Pudding Needleart. It says home is where you hide your stash. I love this one too.
And Little House Needleworks put out Schoolgirl Lessons. It says "Reading Writing Stitching". It shows a schoolhouse & a girl beside it. It's all done in Crescent Colours Belle Soie Silk called Rose of Sharon. Let me know if you want the matching frame to this one. It's from Sharon Crescent's line of frames called The Family Tree. It's also a rich red that matches perfectly.
And Little House Needlework's Home of a Needleworker (Too!) is out. Y'all just have to look @ the picture of this one!
I also got A Quaker Floral by Midnight Stitching. It takes 5 skeins of Crescent Colours cotton called Manor Red. Of course I would rather do it in silk & pink. I think I would have to go with Crescent Colours silk called Belle Soie in the color of Rouge. Ok, that's all for this newsletter, I gotta go stitch. LOL Just kidding. But some of these charts I want to start right this minute!
I got a couple charts by Midsummer Night Designs. Our Souls with it's beautiful roses that says whatever our souls are made of his and mine are the same.
Fair Kind True is another good Valentine design to stitch for somebody. It says fair kind true always is my love for you. I like this designer.
Here's a chart I must talk about. It's by The Sampler Girl. It's called #7 For Mrs. Jefferson-A Colonial Love Song. It says And I would love you all the day, Every night would kiss & play, If with me you'd fondly stray, Over the hills & far away. It's a really pretty one. Tracy, a dear new-found friend is introducing me to a whole different taste in stitching.
Another one is Faith, Hope & Love by The Workbasket-just something else.
If you like mystical, magical, fairy type designs, I have a couple for you. I just got Firedance and Silver Moon Fairy from Heaven & Earth Designs.
I just love
Snowman Trio by Stitchy Kitty. Apparently everybody did. I had trouble
getting the chart in. I have the gorgeous fabric cut & ready to be stitched.
It's hand dyed Bluebell.
I just got Cherry Hill by Country Cottage Needleworks. I've ordered the frame already. I must, must, must do this one. 1. It's a pink house! 2. There's sheep. 3. A picket fence (well sort of) 4. A checkerboard border in pink! That's 4 reasons!!!!
And Summer Garden that's so cute with a white picket fence, a gray cat with a black face, dragon flies, bees, bluebirds & all the flowers. And I just saw the little brown bunny in there!
Fresh Off The Truck
UPS just brought me Lizzie Kate's monthly automatic. The 1st thing I see is Cupcake Sweet Tooth Boxer Jr. It's a cute little cupcake with chocolate icing (or do you say frosting?) & a cherry on top. I see from looking @ the back of it there's going to be 3 more in this series. There will be Pie, Ice Cream & Candy. Each one is adorable as can be. I smell a monthly automatic for this one!!! If you'd like to get these kits I'll send you Cupcake this month & then will send you the other 3 when I get them in. Just sign up by calling 800-598-4614, or signup online using our catalog: Automatic Sweet Tooth Boxer Jr. Kits. The kits are $12.50, come with 28 count linen, needle & tiny buttons. This one takes Weeks Dye Works floss & a couple DMC. The colors needed are listed on the product page.
You can also stitch the series together as in the model below.
Also in my box is the next 2 monthly automatic charts Listen Learn & Believe Care. Y'all can join this monthly any time so if you didn't join in the beginning I can still send you the 1st one which is Dream Love if join this month. Then we'll follow consecutively with the rest giving you 1 chart per month.
I really think this is a cool chart. It's an
alphabet to use to create your own designs. It's like building blocks. How
cool is that?!? The name of the chart is A-B-C-razy. And we have Tea Crazy
with 3 designs in this chart. Little Cups of Friendship, Tea For Two &
Official Tea Lover. I want to do all 3 of these! And there's a cute little
Easter chart. It is around the corner, Y'all. It's 2 little bunnies &
carrots & says Hop. Then there's Peace Love & a Cure. All profits from this
one go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
(*Note from Kenneth: We do not have images for these charts
yet, but keep checking the website for us to add them to the online catalog)
Boy, Laurie, Tracy, Grenae & all of y'all!!! This stuff is growing on me! Here's Quaker CHRISTmas! This is the big one Elizabeth! The main color takes 20 skeins. I've signed up to do a Stitch Along on this one. Here's the blog addy if you'd like to check it out: http://quakerchristmassal.blogspot.com. Tanya who is The Sampler Girl designer is heading up this one. You can see her progress & how utterly gorgeous & beautiful hers is. You'll notice some of these ladies are doing theirs on lots of different fabrics with lots of different flosses. The actual start date is February 6. I will be a tad behind. It calls for Crescent Colours cottons but I'm going to use her Belle Soie silks. I want to see her new silks @ market this weekend & see if I want to use one of those. In case I don't like any of them, and with 20 skeins of it, I better just love whichever floss I pick. Sharon is packing 20 skeins of her Fresh Raspberries for me. Bless her heart, coming to Nashville market from Arizona & all she has to bring & pack, she's doing this for me.

Isabella's Garden by Lavender & Lace is just so sweet. It's typical of
their style. It's a little girl blowing bubbles. Sweet is the only words I
can think of to describe it.
Well would you look @ this little guy?!? He's such a cute little snowguy! He
must be putting on his ice skates to take a spin. The ice skate comes with
this chart by the way, as well as the nubby yarn for finishing. This is
Sampler Snowman by Homespun Elegance. I love the alphabet done in the
Caron Wildflowers Fiesta. Oh, I need more stitch time!
Horsie Fans!!!!
Majesty in Motion by Stoney Creek…several charts in this one. Jockey on a
horse, Welcome with adult & child horses & one that says To win without risk
is to triumph without glory. Other horsie charts are in this book.
Ok, that's it for now, I gotta get this place
ready for Kenneth to take over. I get back Sunday night. Kenneth has to work
Monday but I'll be emailing him all the charts as I unpack them so he can get
them on the website. Y'all please be patient as he'll get them up there as he
can. So be watching for them!
Happy Trails to me…….until I email you again...
