  Thread Drops

Hey Y'all:

You know when you start a kit how you have to separate the floss?  How do you store the floss?  Normally I put each color in a floss-away bag.  Here's another neat solution, & cute too.  They're called Thread Drops.  My friend Wanda found them & I'm so glad she had me order them for her so I can carry them in my store.  The 2008 June Pine Mountain pillow came in.  As I began to sort my flosses it was my 1st chance to try them out.  I got the package of the bunny rabbit.  They're so cute!  I just looped my floss in the hole & wrote with a pencil so I can erase & reuse them for the July kit.  And there's I think 40 of them on each ring.  So I only use about 8 of them.  I love them!  They also come in egg shapes & there's a flip flop shape.

Little Stuff

Little House Needleworks & Crescent Colours is putting together a new Thread Pack series.  These thread packs are Little House Needlework's chart with 5 full skeins of Crescent Colours cotton overdyed floss with the chart.  The series is called Little Women.  The 1st in the series comes out in June called Quilting.  The series will be 4 cute little women.  Each design will showcase a little woman spending time with something she loves.  July will be Reading, August-Baking & September-Gardening.  Woo-Hoo!

Joy! Joy! Joy!

Joy!  Oh Joy!  Joyful Summer to be exact.  I really love this design sooooo much.  This design brings to mind my friend Debbie.  She loves the word joy & now so do I.  Country Cottage Needleworks made this design so colorful & pretty.  Never saw more beautiful birdies before.  The model is stitched with DMC along with Crescent Colours cottons on such a pretty blue linen.

More Items

I know several of you are going to want this one by Little House Needleworks called Embroidery Guild.  These ladies are ready to stitch & be stitched.  The frame is from East Side Mouldings & is perfect for this design.  Let me know if you want the frame & I'll order it for you.

I really, really like & need to do this one by Blue Ribbon Designs called Proud & True.  It says:  "with my needle & threads of red, white & blue, I stitched this sampler so proud & true".  Then you put your initials & the year.

In the last newsletter I spoke of a new project coming out by Jeanette Douglas called My Stitching Album that's going to be a monthly automatic.  A lot of you wanted to know a price.  Jeannette hasn't come up with a price yet.  I just got off the phone with her & she said she just met with a printer on Thursday who gave her an estimate but she's still not sure who she's going to go with yet & will let me know as soon as she knows as she has me on a list to call with an update.  Oh well, I tried.  Hopefully I'll know something by the next newsletter.

Speaking of Jeanette Douglas, I keep looking @ this chart of hers called My Stitching Treasures Accessories.  I like it more each time I look @ it.  The fabric for it has been ordered.  I'm waiting somewhat patiently.  Jeannette is going to put together a thread pack for this chart but she's not got it ready yet.  Let me know if y'all want this chart.  It's the chart I have in hand.  If you want the fabric & floss pack I will put you on the mailing list to get it to you as soon as I get it in.  After she gets it together.

Here's my progress so far on the Quaker CHRISTmas stitch along.  If y'all remember & those of you who don't know, I belong to a blog & we post our progress:  http://quakerchristmassal.blogspot.com/.  We're using different floss & fabric colors.  I'm using 36 count cream fabric with Crescent Colours Belle Soie silk floss in the color Fresh Raspberries.  I have this chart on hand as well as whatever fabric & floss you want to do yours on.  I'm expecting to have mine done by Thanksgiving.  Just in time for CHRISTmas decorating.

Classes and Stitch-in At The Dogwood Patch

We've got the beginner hardanger class going on as I'm typing.  I'm trying to type very quietly, they're just about to cut.  These ladies have picked out some gorgeous fabric & floss combinations.  We'll have hardanger class again August 23.  Let me know if you want to sign up.  We have beginner needlepoint part 1 September 13 & part 2 September 27.  Y'all sign up & take the class, it'll be fun.

We also have stitch day June 28.  So you can sign up for that too.  Stitch day is free!  Just show up & stitch all day.  But be sure to bring your chinese gift exchange worth $20.00.  The most creatively wrapped package will win a prize!  Bring your lunch or we'll send out for something.  The hours are 11 - 5.

Y'all know about the Thursday stitch-in I have every week from noon - 5:00.  Now I've added a Tuesday night stitch in every week from 6:00 - 9:00.  No need to sign up for these weekly stitch-ins.  You just show up & stitch.  No chinese gift exchange, nothing special, just stitch.  Unless you want to bring a munchie, that's up to you.  I assure you a munchie is never frowned upon  :)

Collector's Edition - Limited

Feast your eyes on these babies!!!!  Aren't they gorgeous?!?  It's the next collector's edition of scissors.  They will come out in August.  I'm now taking pre-orders so I'll know how many to get.  Because they're a limited edition, once they're gone, they're gone forever.  So if you plan on getting them, let me know.  I'm going to get a pair of 4" for myself.  They come in 4" , 5" & 8" for right handed people, 8"  for left handed people.

And A Garden Grew

Here's a sneak peek of something Rosewood Manor is coming out with @ market this weekend.  No, I'm not going to this market.  There's not much XS @ this one so it's not worth going for.  It's mostly knitting I hear.  This is not a very good or even a whole picture I don't think.  But it gives you an idea of what it looks like.  I have to wait until after market to get the charts.  So I don't know a price on this either.  But I do know one important thing.  I plan to stitch this one.  Anybody want to join me?  Let me know so I'll know how many charts to order.  This picture is so poor you can't even read the words.  This is what it says:  "Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into".  Hhhmmm.

Mom Update

My mom had her left kidney taken out Tuesday & came home on Friday.  They got all the cancer tumor which was the size of a soccer ball.  God is good!  Thanks for all of your prayers.  They were very much appreciated.  It seems each day she's in worse pain as is normal for the recovery process.  So please, if you would, continue to remember her.

Don't know if you remember my mentioning my cousin Josh who is in the navy stationed in Baghdad.  I just found out he's in Washington now.  He's on the Ronald Regan, is getting married & expecting a child.  So now he's really needing prayer.  LOL  Seriously we need to remember to keep all our servicemen in our prayers.  It's hard to pray for everyone all the time.  So many to remember.  But without our country the way it is now, where would we be?  I know a lot of us think things are awful in our country but there are other countries so much worse.  And we don't want to be in their shoes.  With Memorial Day just happening & July 4 on the way, I have a thankful heart for those who help keep the USA in tact.

Mmmm, Mmmm, Good

The Columbia Basin Baptist Association WMU (to learn about Woman's Missionary Union www.wmu.com) has taken on the task of collecting 1.5 million Campbell's Soup labels.  This endeavor is to buy a new minivan for the association's Camp Touchet, student ministry, & other ministries as deemed necessary.  And I want to help.  You can help with this project too by removing labels from cans, bottles, & boxes & mailing them to Laura Kenney  1830 Artemis Ridge, West Richland, WA  99353.  To read about clipping labels by the new procedure, please check out The Campbell's Web site:  www.LabelsforEducation.com/HowtoClipUPCS.aspx.  If you would like to bring them into the store I'll accept them that way to.  Or if you would like to mail them to me directly - The Dogwood Patch  316 Big Sky Drive  Hiawassee, GA  30546.  This is such a small way we can help make a big difference.

Happy Stitching Y'all!
Terrie

From Kenneth

Some of you may have noticed the online calendar further down on the main page of the website.  The calendar will help you see what events/classes/sales/etc will be happening at The Dogwood Patch.  We are using Google Calendar to publish these items due to its ease of use and the ability for you to discuss/ask questions/comment right on the event page.
Hopefully soon I will give the calendar its own page, so be on the lookout for it.

I also snuck in a Tools page with a fabric calculator for your use.  You can find it on the contents frame of the main page.
All you need to know is the design stitch count and fabric count and you can calculate what size fabric you will need.  You can also adjust the over-thread count and border size.  I'll try to add more helpful tools as I find them.  If you find one you would like added to our site, let us know and we will see about adding it.

I'd also like to ask anyone who has comments and/or suggestions about the website to let me know.  As much as we like nice comments about how good our website is, we also want to know what aggravates you or is clumsy to use.
I'll change anything within reason to make your experience using the website and catalog the best it can be.
Send those comments to webmaster at dogwoodpatch.com.

And I'm researching a way to have you search for other stitchers in the area who might be making a trip to the store so you can rideshare.  This will help you offset gas prices and also have someone to socialize with on the trip.  And if you can handle stitching while riding, the passenger could stitch on the way and swap to drive back.   This solution might be hard to implement, but I wanted to toss it out there to see if there is interest in this.
